The article makes a reading of The woman without eyelids (2021), the first narrative by the poet and essayist Ana Marques Gastão, analyzing the character Libbie — of first name Emília — in her questioning movement about existence, which starts from the dialogue and interaction with those she meets, up to her radical gesture of pulling out the eyelids, a radical experience from which pain is not absent. Beyond biblical Eva, Libbie chooses the path of knowledge and faces chaos because to be a subject is to risk knowing/seeing.
