Abstract

The text deals with the activities of the Impressão Régia do Rio de Janeiro and the difficulties which the historians of the book and the reading have gone through to establish the works which were published there and who was responsible for its edition. After research done in Portuguese and Brazilian archives and libraries, some elements were not considered before, now they are brought into discussion, clearing some doubts and breaking open new subjects.

Brasil; séculos XVIII e XIX, financiado pela FAPESP. Conta também com o financiamento do CNPq, sob a forma de bolsa de produtividade em pesquisa, e com o apoio do Real Gabinete Português de Leitura, que facultou a digitalização de seu acervo de romances dos séculos XVIII e XIX.
