Literary manuscripts at D. João's Library
Deals with the literary manuscripts belonging to the Library owned by D. João prince Regem of Portugal, which held a great number of panegyrics, sermons, jomals, odes, letters. Describes the proccess of manuscript correction, until the XIV century, through the use of palimpsests, and !ises the different versions of manuscripts that were made since then, emphasizing the brittleness of the supores and inks and the brief cxistcnce of the records in face of a text that never ceased to be created and re-created. ln this context, analyses D. João's Libraiy, orignially located at the Palace of Queluz and brought to Brazil by the Portuguese Royal Family. Ends by a study of one of the most remarkable manuscripts of the collection, a version of"O Hissope", the mascerpiece of Antônio Diniz da Cruz e Silva, who was a poet of greac imporcance for the XVIII century Portuguese and Brazilian litteratures.
