Based on real fones, and utilizing the concepts of "invisible group" of Abner Cohen e "contrastive identity", of Roberto Cardoso de Oliveira, the author analysis the proccss of the construction of the Madeira Island imigrants social identity in Niteroi, in the period of 1930-1990.
