Brasil & Portugal: ''Ficções Ativas'' e Fricções Cruzadas
Keywords:
Nation, narration, utopia, AméricaAbstract
This communication searches to interlace Eduardo Lourenço' s reflection (in the essays Portugal como Destino followed by Mitologia da Saudade and A Nau de Ícaro) about Portugal and Brazil, with another conclusion that has been developed by Brazilian writers like Roberto da Matta and Darcy Ribeiro. The intersection ofhis interpretation and projection is produced by the continual reciprocity of gaze between the two countries. This paper will consider the Brazilian side and the pluralist conception of our cultural identity, through the perspective adopted by Octavio Souza, in his Fantasia de Brasil. According to him, the baptism of America is the result of the precedence of the European utopia about New World's seen as paradise. On the other hand, it will be written differential translations of tradicional figures as "melancholy" and "sadness" processed in the changeable History, who interpreted them, in the Brazilian culture.
